Paper Casting with your stamps

Have you ever heard of paper casting? Well, I just found out about it a couple of weeks ago and couldn't wait to try it. It turns out that it's SUPER easy and really fun and addicting! Want to try it? I'll tell you how...

You will need bathroom tissue, a rubber/acrylic stamp (with a simple design), and a dry towel or paper towels. (Here are some examples of papercasts that I did.)
Instructions:
1. Tear off about 8-10 squares of bathroom tissue and stack them on top of each other. You can use more or less squares depending on how thick the tissue is and how puffy you want your image. Moisten the paper in the sink. You will want to get it pretty wet.

2. Lay the bathroom tissue stack on your stamp. Press image into stamp. Use your fingers to push paper into the details.

3. While the paper is wet, tear sides for uneven edges or use the side of the stamp to tear straight edges on your image.

4. Using a dry towel or paper towels, press onto image to soak up excess water. Try to get as much water out as you can.

5. Carefully remove image from stamp and let dry.

After the papercast is dry, you can color these with chalks, Glimmer Mist as I did here, or other mediums. You can use the entire papercast on your card or layout, or just cut a portion of it like on this card:
Have fun with this technique!

Hey Dani...love this, but one question---one ply or two ply? I'm thinking that might affect the number of sheets used for the technique...

Danielle Flanders said...

I used 2 ply, but the single ply would probably work too! If you use 2 ply, 8 sheets would be plenty!
